Peter Peter cotton tail

Aislinn said to me, “Easter is my favorite; more than Christmas and Halloween.” I guess it is pretty exciting to hunt for your treats rather than giving to you without competition. I think to myself while watching the kids hunt for eggs that adults have think of this activity too remedial, too easy for people our age. I think someone should come up with an Easter egg hunt with adventure task like the Fear factor or American gladiator. I for sure will sign up for that.

Another proud moment

Today, Aislinn for the first time, picked up a bicycle without training wheels at daycare and started riding it. She was so proud that Monica from daycare had to give me a call. Monica has always laid out all the bikes, scooters and everything out for the kids to try and explore. And Aislinn started riding a bicycle with training wheels at18 months. Now, a month and a half shy being 5, she has picked up riding a bike without training wheels by herself. What an accomplishment :)

Education

I am no smarty pants who just one day decided to pick up the camera and start clicking away and voila! Out come some pretty awesome looking images. I think with some luck, I was able to create a few good images. However, I am a big believer in educating myself to be consistent and not to depend on luck.

Earlier this month I took a workshop with Mark Robert Halper. The guy is a genius. And with tough love, I walked away learning so much. A couple of the students were repeaters who went back for the second time for more torture. I might turn out to be one of them in the later years, but he is that good. I will definitely put what I learned into use and just practice, practice, practice.

Since this is a photography workshop for publishing we have to know what's the purpose of the job before taking the pictures.

Purpose: Clay's 23 year old daughter started working and would like protrait photos done for her desk.

Purpose: Vineyard owner for a wine magazine.

Purpose: Girl skateboarding clothing designer

E-Session practice

I get a lot of practice with my own clients doing family and kids photo sessions as well as assisting weddings, but never an E-Session. Augie is kind enough to let me tag along on his photo shoots, but his E-Sessions are always on weekdays. Weekday photo shoots don't work well for a full time working mom. BTW, an "E-session" is an engagement session.

A few photographers and I were lucky enough to find this couple who was willing to allow us to hone our skills as up and coming photographers.

I might not be a SME on weddings yet, but I think with a few more of these combined with the next generation Canon 5d… I might be on my way there, wink wink :)

It is so much fun to be a second shooter. March 10th, I tag along with Master Augie san for an exciting emotional filled day. Another fun, loving and warm couple, Evelyn and Brain at the 4 Seasons. Of course the appetizer there was amazing!! Master said, I should start thinking going on my own... hummm.. what do you think? :P
